5.0 - The Mind
"Beauty is truth, truth beauty, — that is all / Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know." - John Keats
5.1 - Reading
Language is what gives us our intelligence and humanity. Without it we would be dumb animals no different than chimpanzees. But even now when we speak and think we can only draw on those things that we've previously seen or heard before, so we are mentally limited by our current experiences and vocabulary. With each new book we read, we grow in sophistication and knowledge. With each new book we read we 'level up' like you would in a video game.
Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others have labored hard for. - Socrates
I don't think I need to say much here. Reading is great for you, and I'm sure most of you understand that.
There are a lot of great books out there, but I'll leave some recommendations below. Generally, fiction books are read for entertainment (not they don't have important/valuable themes) and non-fiction works are read for education.
But how do you get your books? If you prefer to read a physical book, like me, you can just order them online or borrow from a library. If you live in the United States, it's likely that you have a local library with a free membership. Libraries are wonderful opportunities and you should absolutely take advantage of them. That being said, if you can't find your book physically or prefer reading PDFs, you can always download them. The single best website for books is Anna's Archive. Some lesser alternatives are Library Genesis, Z-Library, Sci-Hub, and Project Gutenberg.
If you're going to purchase books online, consider supporting /our guys/ at Antelope Hill Publishing and Imperium Press before buying books from careless megacorps like Amazon.
